“We touch our phone screens more often than the body of the person we love. The screen has replaced the skin”.

Digital Pleasure Book Cover
“A useful guide to exploring the world of digital pleasure, tracing its limits and possibilities. Because for years now, dating apps, social media courtship, and porn video platforms have become part of a reality we have to deal with” – GRETA SCLAUNICH, Journalist for Corriere della Sera, curator of the Sesso&Amore (“Sex&Love”) column
“A navigation manual, essential and finely detailed, for interpersonal relationships in the age of social networks. Virtual soul-and-body fishers will find a compass to guide them through the Net and the hook. Love being the ultimate catch, of course” – MARCO SALVATI, Television Author
“A snapshot of 2020, perfectly in focus and capable of capturing the speed with which relational dynamics are celebrated with a few taps on a touchscreen, the urgency and need to be “connected” to others, but shielded by virtual interaction: the web seen as a place of self-affirmation, a form of knowledge and a medium for new digital experiences” – LAURA BARTH, Television presenter, model, influencer
“An effective analysis of the dimension of possession and control of the Homo Digitans, who takes away significant space from emotionally constructed and shared relationships, acting as an antidote to the feared confrontation with the Other. Digital Pleasure is a topical and stimulating book” – MASSIMO GRASSO, Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, La Sapienza University - Rome

If you have a smartphone,
this book is for you

The technological innovation brought about by the digital age has radically transformed us. In language, customs, habits. Digital terms are getting more common in the way we communicate (‘I bought a smartphone’, ‘Let’s take a selfie’, ‘I’ll send you a screenshot’), mobile phones seem to have become a natural extension of our bodies, and the ways in which we relate to others are increasingly tech-mediated.

The revolution of the hyperconnected society seems to have contributed to the emergence of a new type of human being: homo digitans, a citizen of modernity perpetually hunched over a screen and absorbed by the latest innovations offered by the Net.

From “likes” to webcams, from apps to sexting, the Author will try to understand the impact that the gaze of the Other has on us. The book also includes sections containing real clinical vignettes, short exercises for self-reflection and insights about the digital world.
